The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Debuts, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut around the time of the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles officially announced for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
