This race was expected to be among the more competitive editions of this unique 7-furlong contest for female horses. However, vet checks led to multiple withdrawals this morning, including leading runners Sweet Azteca and Tamara.

Consequently, the field now appears much smaller, but conditioner Bob Baffert stands a strong chance to claim his 20th Breeders’ Cup win. His runners feature Richi along with Splendora, while Hope Road, winner of the Grade One Ballerina Stakes, is considered the main challenger.
